How do I use VainSim?

— Please watch the instructional video above, as well as download the instructions for use document.

Is VainSim safe to use?

— VainSim has a safety backing underneath the simulated tissue to protect the user from piercing themselves. The safety backing has been rigorously tested and demonstrated to protect against 13 newtons of force with a 23 gauge needle at a 90-degree angle of incidence. In other words, this is 5x the amount of force required to pierce human skin.

— The VainSim device does not prevent needle sticks outside of the simulated tissue. Therefore, it is critical to maintain safe and proper handling of needles, and adult supervision is required if children are handling the device.

— The VainSim device is intended for educational purposes only, and no components are approved for medical use or sterile.

Who do I reach out to if I need more help with my bleeding disorder?

How do I clean VainSim?

— VainSim simulated skin surface should be cleaned with a cloth dampened with diluted liquid dishwashing soap.

- If the sleeve gets dirty, use a disinfectant wipe to clean the inside of the sleeve in between uses.

— Do not clean the VainSim surface with harsh abrasives or alcohol.

— Air dry thoroughly after every cleaning.

— To clean the reservoir, take an empty syringe, fill it with clean water, and inject it into the device. Repeat these steps until the water is clear and no longer pink upon removal.

How do I store VainSim?

— After each simulation session, drain the simulated blood from the device. To drain, you will need to connect an empty syringe to the blue stopcock and turn the stopcock to be in an up/down position (you will be able to see the small drain hole inside of the stopcock when aligned correctly). After connecting, hold the VainSim device upward and pull back on the syringe. You will be able to remove the remaining fluids inside the device.
— Ensure any sharps are disposed of in the sharps container.
— Improper storage may damage VainSim. Keep it stored in the box provided in a cool, dry place. Extended storage should be between 32°- 85° F (0° – 29° C). Temperatures above 85° F (29° C) will cause the simulator to soften and slowly warp.
— Do not stack or store heavy materials on top of the case.

How many times can I use VainSim?

— Replacing the VainSim device after 30 uses (needle penetrations) and rotating needle penetration locations for optimal functionality is recommended.

— While some VainSim devices may remain functional after 30 uses, device lifetime may vary between products depending on needle gauge and angle of incidence.

What the Warranty Covers

If your product is defective and within the 30-day warranty period, we will ship you a new product free of charge. Please follow the instructions for submitting a warranty claim.

VainSim is made for various applications, which is why we understand that accidents can happen. To ensure you have a product you can count on, whether you’re a beginner or professional, the VainSim Warranty covers a variety of matters:
— If, at any time during this warranty period, your VainSim product does not live up to its guarantee of quality, we will repair or replace the model.
— Here is what’s covered:
• If your trainer breaks or significantly degrades from everyday use, defined as:
• Assembly of parts designed to be integrated into the product.
• Proper infusion practices, utilizing parts and accessories included with the VainSim (or approved equivalent, such as the correct gauge of the needle and blood mixtures).
• Indoor use without extreme exposure to UV light, heat, or cold.
• Care and storage in ambient indoor locations
• If your task trainer does not perform as described or is received functionally or visually defective.
• If you did not receive or are missing kit components.
• If you received a product not representative of the purchase, such as incorrect skin tone.
— If you lose a part or hardware, we will help you find a replacement (shipping costs may apply).

Warranty Limitations

VainSim stands by its mission to produce high-quality and life-changing simulation trainers, though, unfortunately, the warranty does have some limitations.
— Under warranty, we cannot cover misuse, improper storage, mishandling, or mistreatment. Because we provide VainSim for education and training, repurposing the product for use outside of demonstration, such as device testing and validation, or other clinical applications outside of education, the warranty shall be voided. Examples include:
• Dropping or abusing your product.
• Improper cleaning or storage of your product.
• Modifications and alterations to the product, such as markings or cuttings.
• Utilizing unapproved accessories or devices, for example, incorrect size needles or catheters or unapproved mixtures of solutions.
• Improper assembly or use outside of medical education.
• Excessive stress on functional parts, such as anatomical stretching on an undersized device.
— Damage due to negligence, theft, property damage, or the like are not covered by the VainSim warranty.
— While we will always be here to support you, we cannot provide customers with a return label for any products shipped to a location outside of the United States.
